Studio 2.1.0 — July 1, 2026

Our biggest update since 2.0 — more control over your site's look, better visibility in search and AI, and a new way to publish your bulletin.

New

  • Bulletins integration. Connect Bulletins to your site and your announcements and social posts sync in automatically. Turn it on in Settings → Integrations. (Not using Bulletins yet? This is the easiest way to keep your website and weekly bulletin in perfect sync.)
  • Color Overrides. Fine-tune your brand without touching code — set custom colors for buttons, navigation links, in-content links, and your footer, with a live preview as you choose.
  • Header Styles. Choose how your header behaves with one setting: Default, Sticky (follows as you scroll), White, or White Sticky. Plus a new control for the space above and below your header.
  • Search & AI controls. A new Search & AI settings page puts you in charge of how search engines and AI assistants use your site: one slider from "no indexing" up to "full search + AI", the ability to hide specific pages, resources, or your entire staff directory, Google/Bing verification fields, and an "About for AI" description so assistants describe your church accurately.
  • Automatic social share cards. Share a page with no featured image and Studio now builds a branded card — your logo, colors, and title — so links never post as a blank box.
  • More content controls: text-alignment tools in rich text, an optional Subtitle field on six content blocks, a Toolkit Giving embed block, forms on the homepage, a homepage events layout toggle (inline or full-width band), and a Single-page Mode for one-page sites.

Improved

  • Better visibility in Google & AI. Fixed a sitemap issue that was pointing search engines at broken resource links, added richer data for sermons, events, staff, and series, and pages can now serve clean text to AI assistants that request it.
  • Location blocks now work correctly inside multi-column layouts — no more overflow or broken maps.
  • Cleaner mobile menu with a new Mobile Menu Background color option.
  • Safer forms — a form now requires at least one email recipient before publishing, so submissions never get lost.

Fixed

  • Announcement popups no longer appear as an empty overlay.
  • Numerous spacing, alignment, and typography refinements across events pages, headers, and content blocks.

Under the hood

  • Upgraded to the latest platform (Sanity v6, Next.js 16) for faster builds, better performance, and stronger security.

Studio 2.0.3 — June 2026

Fixes

  • Homepage no longer serves a stale duplicate document.
  • Extra margin between home chapters and the prefooter.
  • Fixed a crash on pages with an empty content body.

Studio 2.0 — April 27, 2026

Studio redesign & sidebar

  • Restyled the Studio sidebar with a softer, translucent look; removed the dark-mode toggle and forced light mode for a consistent editor experience.
  • Added a product switcher to the user menu (desktop + mobile) surfacing Bulletins and Giving alongside Sites, with custom icons that invert on hover.
  • Added a "Help & Guides" tool directly in the sidebar so editors can reach documentation without leaving the app.
  • Promoted the structure tool to the first sidebar item, hid the perspective pills, and added dedicated View/Preview Page tabs.

Events revamp

  • Schema + UI overhaul for events, with a wrapper fix and contrast improvements throughout the events surface.
  • Added a list view with month grouping and prominent month headers; whole rows are clickable.
  • Added a per-view toggle and default-view control, with validation that the default view must be one of the enabled ones.
  • Polished grid spacing (row gaps, location padding) and active-tab styling.

Announcements

  • New announcements system replacing the prior implementation.

Help library

  • Added new help articles across content, events, settings, and integrations.
  • New off-site help location at help.toolkit.church.

SEO & structured data

  • Added JSON-LD structured data across the site (Church organization, WebSite, Article, Event, Person, Breadcrumb).
  • Added an optional FAQ schema toggle on accordion blocks.
  • Allowed AI crawlers with throttling for better AI/search visibility.

Schemas, validation & redirects

  • Added helpful descriptions to every document type and setting.
  • Added validation to prevent URL-unsafe characters in slugs.
  • Auto-create redirects when page slugs change, so editors don't break inbound links.
  • Per-element color overrides via a new settings area.
  • Image block can now be added inside accordion items, person bios, splash page, and image-with-text.

Custom links & navigation

  • Custom link rewrite: cleaner editor UI, no lag when switching link type, an explicit "Open in a new tab" toggle, and automatic detection of external URLs.
  • Location block "Get Directions" link opens in a new tab.

Also

  • Performance and UX polish, testing and accessibility improvements, hardened form security, and added security headers.

Studio 1.10 — December 9, 2025

  • Free mobile app: My Church Toolkit — a new page detailing the free app on your site at /free-app.
  • Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics support.
  • Add "Person" blocks to the homepage.
  • Line breaks in the "Service Times" block.
  • Fixed certain navigation bugs on the Olivet theme when using a hero video on the homepage.

We also said goodbye to Splash pages for now. "Splash Page" no longer shows in your menu, but you can still reach its settings at yoursite.com/studio/structure/settings;splash.

Fixes

  • Fixed Hero padding on the Olivet theme with the "single image" display option.
  • Fixed the Olivet nav bar wrapping oddly at some screen sizes.
  • Fixed Anavim page featured images displaying incorrectly.
  • Footer menu external links now open in a new tab, like Header menu items.
  • Fixed images, buttons, and links rendering within resource content blocks.
  • Fixed the Index Nav block showing a placeholder title when none was set ("Explore the Library" is the normal fallback).
  • Featured Series block no longer crashes when a series has no resources.
  • Fixed breadcrumbs on deeply-nested pages.
  • Fixed a crash when the HTML Embed block was empty.
  • Fixed crashes on taxonomies that contained only future-scheduled resources.
  • Stricter controls on bots crawling your site, while allowing "good" bots.
  • Fixed Planning Center events pulling the internal start time instead of the public start time.

Improvements

  • Force page reload for tricky embeds: prepend a URL with $ (e.g. $/embed-page) to force a full reload for embeds that don't work with our instant-load navigation.
  • Fixed the hamburger menu not closing when clicking a link or outside the menu.
  • Hero and Promo Images: Events, Resources, and Series now support both Promo Images (cards and social previews) and optional Hero Images (page backgrounds).
  • Updated Form Confirmation email styling.
  • Resource video embeds and Video Embed blocks now respect YouTube's "start at" time.
  • Event blocks: choose how many events to display on the Upcoming Events and Planning Center Events blocks.
  • Planning Center events now show loading placeholders while real cards load.
  • Event dates & times clarified: start/end are now proper dates without a time component; events display through the day of the event (or last day, for multi-day) and update at midnight; single-event pages add a "passed" notice within a day.
  • Scheduling standards: clearer, more consistent rules for when scheduled resources appear across homepage blocks, index pages, series pages, "More From This Series," and RSS feeds.

v1.6.7–1.6.9 "Hezekiah" — August 8, 2024

A catalog of bugfix releases for 1.6 "Hezekiah."

  • Rebuilt the page-header styling on all three themes; added Genesis page-header styling.
  • Fixed image-block rendering size.
  • Fixed index pages misrendering when empty.
  • Fixed an Anavim header width bug and an Acacia header bug.
  • Fixed a column-content hyperlink visual bug.
  • Fixed the Location block not displaying on mobile.
  • Fixed Hero content markup in video / single-picture mode.
  • Fixed a crash when using full-width images on secondary pages.

v1.6 "Hezekiah" — July 22, 2024

  • New and improved preview system! A major overhaul to reduce errors and crashes and improve preview editing. Draft changes now appear anywhere on the site, in near-real-time (within ~10 seconds), and all homepage blocks respect preview. Previewing entirely new documents is now supported.
  • Better error reporting: if the site hits an error, it serves a friendly "something went wrong" page and automatically sends us a report so we can investigate.
  • New podcasting RSS feeds publishable directly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and more, for any resource type.
  • More RSS feeds for more sections of your library (e.g. /resources/feed, per-author feeds).
  • New "Featured Series" block to show off your latest sermon series automatically on your homepage.
  • New "More from this Series" section listing related sermons on a single sermon page.
  • Improved Series Index and archive pages with date spans, resource counts, descriptions, and thumbnails.
  • New image features: cropping, focal-point (hotspot), blurred loading placeholders, and more efficient file formats.
  • People can now be part of multiple categories.
  • Improved, path-specific 404 pages with better breadcrumbs.
  • Many more bug fixes and improvements throughout the site.

v1.5.4 "Gilead" — June 24, 2024

  • Fixed slideshow lag on Acacia.
  • Fixed a misaligned feature block with no image on Acacia.
  • Fixed a wonky Prefooter on Acacia.
  • Fixed the Topic label design on resource cards on Acacia.
  • Restored the Single Highlight Block as an option on Page Content.
  • Fixed grandchild pages showing up on the "Child Page" block.
  • YouTube thumbnails now show as the social image when a page has a video but no Promo Image.
  • Added external redirects (in addition to internal site redirects).

A quick patch release.

  • Fixed multiple block errors on Planning Center-integrated sites (no data loss).

  • Event category filtering: both normal and Planning Center event blocks can now filter by an Event Category (e.g. only Kids Ministry events on your Kids Ministry page).
  • Latest Resources by Type: feature any resource type on your homepage, in text or card style.
  • People block (formerly Staff Embed): automatically pull in an entire category of People.
  • Child Page Links block: automatically list all child pages on their parent page.
  • Customize which metadata appear on resource cards, in Resource Settings.
  • New Divider block for a horizontal rule or spacer.
  • People can now list an optional phone number.
  • Your site now publishes a sitemap at /sitemap.xml.
  • Page redirects: create URL redirects like /easter → /events/sunday-easter-service-2025.
  • Automatic redirects for sites migrating from WordPress' Church Content Pro.
  • Button theming: highlight blocks, Prefooter, Hero, button groups, and the event registration button can all be themed with brand colors.
  • Added the Poppins font; over 16 social icons in the footer (including Church Center and Tithely); YouTube/Vimeo thumbnails auto-pull on the Video block.
  • Rich event pages: event single pages gained a Content field that accepts any block (including forms); a new "All Events" block can be added to any page.
  • Various image-alignment and preview bugfixes.

  • Image with Text block now available on the homepage.

  • New: RSS feeds for all resource library pages — just add /feed after a page URL (available for author, series, and topic archives).
  • New: a global fallback option for the page header image, in Customization Settings.
  • Fixed the Staff Embed block to correctly list selected staff.
  • Fixed the Hero slideshow "flash" on Anavim and Olivet.
